Myrtos is a traditional seaside village of the Libyan open sea, 14km west of Ierapetra. The history of Myrtos goes long back in centuries. An open country full of olive, lemon and orange-trees is hugging Myrtos from the north and on the south the gorgeous, quiet beaches of Libyan are extending. It has a sweet, temperate climate at all seasons, winter or summer and friendly hospitable people.
You can find everything [super market, taverns, restaurants, cafeterias etc]. There is also the possibility to go on excursions at interesting places nearby. You may rent a bicycle or take a walk to the green valley and enjoy the smell of lemon and orange trees.
Walkers will enjoy exploring the hill country around the fertile Myrtos river valley, one of the most beautiful on Crete. There is a small Minoan site nearby as well as a Bronze Age settlement. You may also visit the remarkable Archaeological-Folkloric museum of the village
